Shakespeare Camp Auditions
Date – Time
February 17, 2012
– 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Additional Information
We are excited to announce that we will host Shakespeare Camp again this summer. We will produce two plays: "Much Ado About Nothing" and “The Tempest”! Our camp is open to actors age 12 and above, with the stipulation that all younger actors have enough self-control to be able to handle two hours cooped up behind the stage. Roles which contain more than 75 lines are open to those 14 years and older.
This year we will have auditions for parts February17th from 1-3 at North Shore Fellowship Church. Please Google the location for the directions- but it is across the river, in the same general area as the Chattanooga Theatre Center. Auditions are not required to participate, but if you would like a larger or more popular role, auditions will make a difference. You will be judged on overall acting ability, ability to project your voice, ability to memorize, and maturity. It is important to get a copy of the script and memorize your audition piece in preparation for auditions. This year I will send scripts and audition assignments by email after I receive your registration. At that time you will need to email me your choice of roles. You may audition for one role and list several roles that interest you.
Whether you attend auditions or not, I need you to fill out the Shakespeare Camp Registration Form (below) and return it to me by mail. There is a place for parents to sign. Cost will be $28 for the first family member and $8 for each additional family member. This year all participants will receive camp t-shirts! You will need to send in your registration by February 1, 2012.
Our plan is to have 4 days of camp (July 30 to August 4) with performances on Friday, August 3rd and Saturday, August 4th. Camp is about 4 1/2 hours each day. As you can see from this schedule (and many of you know by experience) it is imperative that everyone who signs up for Shakespeare Camp commit to memorizing his lines before camp begins. I will be asking parents to sign an agreement that they will supervise preparation in two stages: half the lines memorized by May 28th and the second half memorized by July 16th.
Please let me know if you can help with our camp. We need 1-3 parents to help with coaching, 1-2 parents to help with set, 6 parents to help with make-up, and 2 parents to plan the receptions after the plays. It would be really neat if there was someone who would like to document the camp with photographs and video (but this is just a dream of mine and not necessary for camp.)
The registration form is below. Thank you for your attention to these details in advance. It will be of the greatest help in organizing our productions.
Fare thee well,
Joyce McPherson
You will have to cut and paste the registration form below into a document to print it off.
